Come and enjoy the challenge of Big Woods Hunting for Whitetail Deer in the famous Allagash Lakes Region of Maine

Macannamac Camps are located in the "Big Woods" of remote interior Northern Maine. This region provides our clients hunting areas of recent tree harvesting or forest of many maturity stages.

Although we are remote, there is ample opportunity to travel by road and access nearly two dozen townships which surround our camps on Spider, Cliff, and Haymock Lakes. We are located approximately two hours of travel time from the nearest organized town.

Our hunters have always shown good success during November, with second and third weeks being the most popular. First week can often, but not always, be without tracking snow, but lends itself to more comfortable conditions in stand hunting. Fourth week is often the truly prime week; with colder temperatures and high rut activity. Muzzleloading season is the first week of December here in Northern Maine, with excellent snow conditions for tracking the deer migration to wintering areas.

Even those hunters who go home without their "trophy", often express the thrill of hunting this area simply because of the quality of deer and sign, and the overall amount of ridges, swamps, streams, lake shores, and old logging roads. It makes for a great playground for anyone with the desire to enjoy nature and the pursuit of whitetails.

We provide a full service American Plan Lodge which includes lodging and meals, and a modified American Plan. We also have basic or full utility log cabins well equipped to fit your needs, including gas appliances and gas lights. All our camps are winterized and have wood burning heaters, each with its own supply of dry hardwood and cedar kindling.

Macannamac Camps are open all seasons and are located 67 miles north of Millinocket and 65 miles west of Ashland by road. We hope that your hunting party will become like many of our hunters who return year after year to enjoy the unique experience of remote, big woods Maine.
